What is TOEFL

TOEFL™, also known as Test of English as Foreign Language, is an internet-based test which measures proficiency in English on skills such as Reading, Writing, Listening along with speaking abilities. TOEFL™ is developed, administered and promoted by Educational Testing Services (ETS) which is a US based organization.



More than 10,000 universities in 150+ countries accept TOEFL™ scores to assess English ability of candidates who want to pursue undergraduate and Graduate programs. This test may also be used for immigration purpose, work visas and professional certificate programs.

Exam Structure

Reading 60–80 minutes 36–56 questions Read 3 or 4 passages from academic texts and answer questions.
Listening 60–90 minutess 34–51 questionst Listen to lectures, classroom discussions and conversations, then answer questions.
Break 10 minutes -  
Speaking 20 minutes 6 tasks Express an opinion on a familiar topic; speak based on reading and listening tasks
Writing 50 minutes 2 tasks Write essay responses based on reading and listening tasks; support an opinion in writing.
